Everything You Need to Know About Our NDIS Assessments
Common Questions
We know you have questions about telehealth assessments, timelines, and what makes a quality NDIS report. Here are the answers to what support coordinators and families ask us most.
General
Does the NDIA accept telehealth assessments?
Yes. The NDIA recognises that Functional Capacity Assessments rely on consultation, evidence gathering, and clinical reasoning—not hands-on therapy. An FCA isn’t about diagnosing conditions or delivering treatment. Our senior OTs consult with the participant, review evidence from their treating team, use validated assessment tools, and translate all of that information into clear, clinically justified recommendations. Quality comes from understanding NDIA expectations and presenting the evidence properly. Our OTs have completed more than 1,000 telehealth FCAs using this process, with consistently strong outcomes.
How quickly can you get the assessment done?
Within 48 hours of receiving the signed Service Agreement, we allocate a senior OT and our admin team contacts the participant to schedule. Assessment calls typically occur within 1–2 weeks, and reports are delivered 10–14 business days after the call. Have a tight deadline? Speak to us and we can prioritise.
What makes your reports different?
Three things set us apart. First, our standardised framework is continuously updated to match current NDIA expectations. Second, every report is written by a senior OT with 5+ years experience specialising exclusively in NDIS assessments, then peer-reviewed by another senior OT. Third, we focus on getting it right the first time, reducing the need for follow-ups or revisions. The result is detailed, evidence-based reports that properly address the participant’s needs and have strong success rates with the NDIA.
What types of assessments do you offer?
We provide:
- Functional Capacity Assessments (FCAs)
- Supported Independent Living (SIL) reports
- Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) assessments
- Individualised Living Options (ILO) reports
All reports are NDIA-compliant and delivered via our secure telehealth platform.
What if there’s a tight plan review deadline?
Just note it in the referral form. Our admin and clinical coordination team can prioritise when needed for urgent cases. We consistently deliver high-quality, detailed reports even under tight timelines, without compromising accuracy or clinical depth.
Is telehealth assessment less stressful than in-person?
For many participants, yes. Video calls can feel less daunting than having a clinician visit your home. You’re in a familiar, comfortable environment and can have family members or carers present for support. Our OTs are experienced at making telehealth sessions relaxed and conversational while still gathering all the evidence needed for a comprehensive report.
Do you offer in-person assessments?
Yes. In-person assessments are available in selected areas across Victoria, Queensland and South Australia. Telehealth is available Australia-wide.
Can assessments be completed by telehealth?
Yes. Many Functional Capacity and Home & Living assessments can be completed effectively by telehealth, depending on the participant’s circumstances and assessment needs. Our senior OTs use the appropriate mix of interviews, supporting evidence, assessment tools and clinical reasoning to build a clear picture of the participant’s functional needs. In-person assessments are also available in selected areas across VIC, QLD and SA.
Do you support participants in regional or rural areas?
Yes. We support participants Australia-wide, including regional and remote areas. Telehealth is available nationally, with in-person assessments also available in selected areas across VIC, QLD and SA.

What’s a Functional Capacity Assessment?
An FCA evaluates a participant’s ability to perform daily activities and provides the evidence the NDIA needs to determine appropriate support levels and funding. You’ll typically need one for initial NDIS applications, plan reviews, change of circumstance, or appeals.
Do you offer in-person assessments?
Yes. In-person assessments are available in selected areas across Victoria, Queensland and South Australia. Telehealth is available Australia-wide.

Does the NDIA accept video call SIL assessments?
Yes. The NDIA fully accepts SIL assessments conducted via video call. These are evidence-based evaluations relying on structured interviews, validated tools, clinical documentation, and information from existing support networks, not hands-on physical assessment. Our senior OTs have completed hundreds of SIL reports via video call with consistently successful funding outcomes.
How is a SIL assessment different from an FCA?
A SIL assessment goes beyond a standard FCA. While an FCA looks broadly at a person’s functional capacity across daily activities, a SIL assessment specifically focuses on whether 24/7 support is required, why it is necessary, and what level of staffing is appropriate.
Do you offer in-person assessments?
Yes. In-person assessments are available in selected areas across Victoria, Queensland and South Australia. Telehealth is available Australia-wide.

SDA

Does the NDIA accept video call SDA assessments?
Yes. The NDIA fully accepts SDA assessments conducted via video call. These are evidence-based evaluations that rely on structured interviews, validated assessment tools, review of medical documentation, and functional analysis, not hands-on physical assessment of the participant. Our senior OTs have completed hundreds of SDA reports via video call with consistently successful funding outcomes.
How do you assess housing needs over video call?
We don’t assess the physical property over video. Instead, we assess the participant’s functional capacity, mobility needs, behaviours, support requirements, and medical conditions to determine what specialist housing features are necessary.
From this evidence, we provide a detailed clinical justification for whether SDA is appropriate and which SDA design category best meets the participant’s needs. This is the exact information the NDIA uses to make SDA funding decisions, and it is gathered in the same way via video call as it would be in person.
What SDA design categories can you assess for?
We assess for all SDA design categories: Improved Liveability, Fully Accessible, Robust, and High Physical Support. Your OT will determine which category is most appropriate based on your participant’s functional needs and provide clear justification in the report.
How is an SDA assessment different from an FCA?
SDA assessments specifically focus on justifying why specialist disability accommodation is necessary and which design category is appropriate. They require detailed evidence about functional limitations that make standard housing unsuitable, specific housing feature requirements, and clear reasoning about why modifications to standard housing wouldn’t be sufficient. FCAs assess general functional capacity across life domains.
ILO

Does the NDIA accept video call ILO assessments?
Yes. The NDIA fully accepts ILO assessments conducted via video call. These assessments rely on structured interviews, validated tools, functional analysis, and a detailed understanding of the participant’s goals, preferences, and support needs, not physical testing, treating or diagnosing.
Our senior OTs assess the suitability of ILO as a living option, explore preferred living arrangements, and provide clear clinical justification for ILO funding.
How is an ILO assessment different from a SIL assessment?
ILO provides flexible, personalised support in the participant’s own home. It does not require overnight or 24/7 support, instead, it focuses on choice, control, and a tailored mix of supports.
SIL is for people who need regular, rostered support, often including overnight or 24/7 assistance. It can be delivered in the participant’s own home, SDA, or other supported living environments.
What does “individualised” mean in ILO?
It means the living arrangement is tailored to the participant’s specific needs, goals, and preferences rather than fitting into a standard model. This might include who they live with, where they live, how supports are delivered, and how they participate in decision-making about their home and supports.
Do you offer in-person assessments?
Yes. In-person assessments are available in selected areas across Victoria, Queensland and South Australia. Telehealth is available Australia-wide.
Access Request

Do I still need a letter from my GP or specialist?
Yes. The NDIS requires clinical evidence of a permanent, lifelong disability from a treating health professional. This FCA provides the functional evidence that complements that clinical diagnosis.
Can I use this if I’ve applied to the NDIS before but was rejected?
Yes, as long as you’re reapplying for access and don’t currently have an NDIS plan.
What if I need this assessment for a plan review instead?
This assessment isn’t suitable for plan reviews. You’ll need our Comprehensive FCA, which includes the detailed analysis required for funding changes and reviews.
What happens after I complete the form and pay?
You’ll receive a payment confirmation immediately. Within 1 business day, our team will email you to book your telehealth video call assessment with one of our senior OTs and gather all relevant documents that can be used in the report.Â
How does Afterpay work?
Afterpay lets you split the payment into 4 interest-free instalments. At checkout, select Afterpay on the Stripe payment page and follow the prompts to set up or log into your Afterpay account (subject to approval by Afterpay).
